Bridges
A dental bridge can be used to provide stability to the patient’s mouth by replacing one or more missing teeth. The bridge is usually attached on both sides to adjacent teeth by crowns. The bridge is used to maintain space and function for missing teeth.
Crowns
A crown, or cap, is a cover for a decayed or damaged tooth; the crown is made of porcelain and/or porcelain and metal. A crown covers and protects the tooth while maintaining the appearance and function of the damaged tooth. When a significant portion of a tooth has been damaged by decay, the dentist will remove a part of the tooth in order to remove all the decay. The crown will then provide strength and stability that was lost with the original damaged tooth.
Dentures
Dentures are a partial or complete set of artificial teeth for either the upper or lower jaw. This appliance is used to replace all missing teeth in one arch. If the teeth are loose or painful, it may be too late to save them, and replacement with dentures may be necessary.
Extraction
An extraction is the excision of a tooth by simple removal or surgical means.
Implants
An implant is a screw or a titanium shaft that is placed into the jawbone to replace a missing tooth. A bridge or crown can then be attached to the implant.
New Technology
New technologies in dentistry are providing a variety of new methods to diagnose and treat dental problems and correct damaged or discolored teeth. These technologies include power whitening, micro dentistry, soft and hard tissue lasers, air abrasion, intraoral cameras, and digital x-rays.
Ortho
Orthodontic treatment is the adjusting of misaligned teeth by various methods in order to correct the position of the teeth. Orthodontic treatment usually involves braces or a retainer and is used to bring teeth into proper alignment.
Pediatrics
Pediatric dentistry specializes in the treatment of children's teeth. As soon as a child gets his first teeth, you should begin cleaning the teeth after feedings with a moist cloth or gauze pad. When your child is comfortable with a toothbrush, brush his teeth twice a day with an extra-soft toothbrush. Caring for baby teeth (primary teeth) is very important to the child’s overall dental health.
Perio Disease
Periodontal disease is an infection of the teeth, gums, and the bone that surrounds the teeth. Often people are not aware that they have the disease because it is normally not painful, especially in the early stages.
Root Canal
Root canal therapy is a method used to save an abscessed tooth. In the treatment, the small space at the center of the tooth, called the pulp or nerve, is cleaned out, disinfected, and filled with a permanent filling. The tooth is then prepared for a crown or cap.
Restorations
A restoration refers the placement of an indirect resin, which is a specially made white plastic piece that is bonded in place to restore a damaged tooth. It usually takes several appointments to fully restore a tooth with an indirect resin. The tooth-colored indirect resin is made of plastic or a plastic material mixed with glass.
TMD
A temporomandibular disorder refers to the occurrence of pops or pain in the temporomandibular joint. This joint connects the lower jaw with the skull. This condition is often characterized by limited ability to chew and also by facial pain.

Home Whitening
For at home whitening procedures, an impression is made of the patient’s teeth and a form or model is created. Then a custom tray for whitening is made from the model. The custom trays are filled with a mild whitening solution. Whitening agents force oxygen through the enamel of the tooth. Stains disappear and the tooth’s structure is not damaged. Patients wear the whitening solution over their teeth at night.
Bonding
Bonding is a procedure in which resin is applied to a tooth to change its appearance. This alteration could involve changing the color or contour of the tooth. In the procedure, the tooth is slightly roughened and the bonding material is color matched, applied, hardened with a high intensity light, and then sculpted and polished. Bonded restorations are highly durable, and they can significantly enhance a person’s smile.
Today’s all porcelain bridges are strong and durable. They eliminate the dark line often visible from the metal base in the older bridges. The translucent quality of the all porcelain bridge makes them hard to differentiate from the real teeth.
Crowns, or caps as they are also called, cover a tooth and add stability and strength to it, bring back its functionality, and restore its appearance. The all-porcelain crown does not have a metal base and the potential black line at the gums is eliminated. The tooth is reduced in size and shaped in order to have the crown fit correctly. The prepared crown is then cemented in place.
Veneers are usually used to cover only the front and top of a tooth and are used to correct the shape or color of the tooth. A veneer is used often to cover stained teeth, to close the space between teeth, and to add length to small or misshapen teeth. The veneer itself is a thin covering of plastic or porcelain that is cemented or bonded to the tooth. Veneers essentially become a part of the teeth and can be used as one would use normal teeth.
With a white filling, only the decayed portion of the tooth need be removed, which leaves more of the original tooth structure in place. This makes for a healthier tooth structure. Instead of silver amalgam, porcelain and composite resin are used to fill the decayed tooth. These tooth colored options are more attractive and will not leak or darken your smile, as a silver amalgam filling will.
